Work Sucks

The place I work at has just decided to introduce a new pay system where we work a 'week in hand' so until I leave I will always be owed a weeks wages. It's a ridiculous idea, they now owe me more then I got payed, leaving me without ?92.50, about $160, meaning all my plans have now gone to shit. Unless I misunderstand what you described - that's the most common pay method. VERY few companies pay-to-date, unless all there employees are salaried.

The risk is that they have to generate the payroll before the pay date. The only way to do this for a pay-to-date is to estimate hours worked and make adjustments on incorrect pays the following pay period; making more work for the payroll clerk and greater chance of error.

I know this because payroll is my business.
